PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT AT DEER HEARINGS

WATERBURY, VT - Four public hearings are being held in February by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Board in order to gather public input on a proposed deer hunting regulation.

All of the hearings will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in auditoriums as follows:
Springfield - February 15 at Springfield High School, 303 South Street
Rutland - February 17 at Rutland Intermediate School, 6365 Liberty Avenue.
Lyndonville - February 22 at Lyndon State College, 1001 College Road
St. Albans - February 24 at Bellows Free Academy, 71 Main Street.

According to the proposed regulation, Vermont's deer hunting rules would remain unchanged except that only one "buck" may be taken in a year, and that in Wildlife Management Units B, J1 and K2, a legal "buck" must have at least one antler with two discernable points.

The proposed regulation is posted on the Fish & Wildlife website at:
( http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/rules/2005_Deer_Management_Rule_1501.pdf  ).
