Fall is here!
Posted by RodIt seems that every morning the air gets just a degree or two cooler and fog seems to dominate the weather before 9:00am. This is a definite precursor to fall just around the corner.
After just returning from a bear hunting trip to Maine earlier this month, the guns are being pulled out and the fever is cranking up a notch or two.
Here, in my beloved West Virginia, the mast crops are at all time highs. the oak, beech, and hickory, as well as all types of soft mast promises abundant groceries for the deer, turkeys, bears and squirrels. This is a travelling fall for me and I hope to have much to report later on this blog. An October trip is planned to Pocahontas County with friends to hunt and fish for fall stocked trout. The first of November brings in the early season opener for black bear here in Kanawha County and several animals have been seen in early scouting trips.
I will be posting related info as times allows this fall. Of note, in addition to the enormous Cabela’s store that opened last year in Wheeling, Charleston now has it’s very own Gander Mountain superstore! A weekend visit was quite impressive. GM offers clothing, fishing, camping, reloading, archery, canoes, ATVs, 2000 guns and a gunsmith on the premises!
See you in the woods.
In His steps,
Rod
